  1. If an applicant has passed a professional examination which is not in the list of recognised qualifications (Appendix A), he should apply to the Board to have his qualification evaluated. The following must be sent together with his application :-

    (a) certified detailed transcript of his results duly certified.
    (b) syllabus of the examination taken.
    (c) course content.
    (d) certified copy of certificate/diploma/degree.
    (e) any other relevant information.

  2. If his qualification is acceptable, he should then apply for registration as an articled qualified person. If his qualification is not acceptable, he may apply for registration as an articled pupil (non-graduate) provided he can satisfy the minimum educational requirements (See regulation 8).

  3. To be registered as an articled pupil or qualified person, he must be working under a licensed land surveyor or under Director-General of Survey and Mapping who may article him. The licensed land surveyor concerned must have been registered with the Board for not less than five years.

  4. To apply for registration as an articled pupil or qualified person with the Board, he must submit to the Board three completed copies of the Form on Indentures of Articles of Pupilage (Form 1) and submit through the licensed land surveyor or the Director-General of Survey and Mapping who is sponsoring him within three months of the date of commencement of the articleship together with the following:-

    (a) two copies of the applications form (Form 2);
    (b) two certified true copies of his educational and professional
          qualifications;
    (c) two certified true copies of his citizenship certificate;
    (d) two certified true copies of his birth certificate;
    (e) evidence of any practical experience;
    (f) registration fee of $10.00

    Note:

    Copies shall be made from the original certificates and these must be shown to the Certifying Officer before he certifies the copies. However, the Board may still require the originals to be produced when necessary.

  5. The Board may in its discretion register or decline to register any articles (regulations 10 and 11).

  6. If he is registered as an articled pupil and is required to pass the professional examinations of the Institution of Surveyors, Malaysia, he must apply for admission as a student/probationer of the Institution of Surveyors, Malaysia.

  7. If he is registered as an articled graduate or qualified person and is required to pass the joint examination in "Law & Regulations" and/or "Land Tenure" he must apply for admission as a graduate member of the Institution of Surveyors, Malaysia.

  8. If he has satisfied all the requirements for registration as land surveyor, he should make an application to the Board and submit the following:-

    (a) two copies of the Applications for Registration as a land surveyor
          (Form LJT 5);
    (b) a declaration in the form and manner prescribed in the schedule to the Act;
    (c) a registration fee of $50.00.

  9. The Board will require him to appear before the Board for a professional interview (viva-voce) before entering his name in the Register.
